ed monahan	I just noticed a hole wearing thru the roof just above the rear window, on the INSIDE. Apparently it rubs something when the top is down, in the trunk. Anybody else notice this? I have almost 12,000 miles about 80 % with the top down. I know other people had holes but I didn't think this is where it showed up. It definitely is not getting caught in the latch, as this is the lowest part of the top when it is folded down. Luckily it is double thick at that point so there is no chance of a leak.
Pirana	Ed, you are not the only one. I have a pin hole also, it looks like the latch pinches the top. When I went to CAAP, they did not have any idea of the situation but mentioned that we need to tell the dealer so they know of the situation. I have not yet gone to the dealer. Ron Jones	I have the same pinholes in my roof. I believe they were made by the latch. It would be nice if this was covered under warranty. ------------------
CJ	Check your owners manual with regard to proper positioning of the latches when the top is down. We will check on Monday and see if there is any additional information on this problem.
ed monahan	My hole is being rubbed by something. It is directly above the top of the rear window, on the inside and is no where near any latches. When it is folded in the trunk, it is resting on the bottom, on the carpet, that is where the hole is being rubbed.

FatManInTheBathTub	Hey now, I too have a small hole from the inside on the passanger side, behind the linkage. I tried to get it warranted but they said NO!. I checked to see if it is touching anywhere and it isn't. The district rep in FL is not very good in my opnion...............
butchcee	I see some wear marks on the inside fabric too. Not thru, but scuffed-over the top of the window and towards the sides. Maybe from not fastening the top down with the tie-downs? I usually dont-most of you said you did in another post. ------------------ AL Yellow is DCOOLEST
Chuck	The hole is caused by the deck lid latch hitting the fabric when you close the deck lid. If you don't push the fabric down with your hand it will stick up into the latch mechanism. I had the Georgia District Manager at the dealer look at mine and he basically told me tough s___t. It is not, and will not be covered under warranty. ALLEY CAT	Thanks Gary for finding it. Looked at Jerry Pignolo's top on saturday - "L" shaped hole and cut to the side of the rear window on passenger side. This might be difficult to explain, but try and follow me. With your top UP, and rear window section folded up, follow the Electric Rear Window Defrost wire to where it is tied on top frame with tie-strap. BELOW that point, you will see a small section of the top frame construction that has a small L shaped piece of unprotected metal exposed - this is where the problem is. This point is where the fabric is wearing against the top WHEN lowering and putting top UP. When the top is fully UP and latched, you can put your fingers between the frame and the fabric and feel 1 1/2 inches of clearance. So you conclude this area is NOT the problem, BUT, it does touch and rub when lowering down and lifting the top up - I think it may even be rubbing that spot when the top is down and in the craddle space. My fix - buy a foot of windshield washer tubing ( 1/8th" ). Press on this tubing over that exposed small metal piece and leave another 1/2" extra off that point, so you will use about one inch of tubing. Even though most of you are having this problem on passenger side, do both right and left sides now. I'm hoping this will correct the problem and the rest of us will not have this happen to us - its a nightmare of a problem. If I had a hole there, I'd go ballistic if DC turned down a warranty claim. You need to have another person putting up and down your top for you and watch where this contact is taking place. I think you now have a legitimate bitch to fight the DC turndown on claims. JUST JP	This hole on the passenger side sounds like the one I had. Just had top replaced. My tech saw it and immediately ordered a new top. It is caused by the L-shaped piece of metal which turns out to be the stop when the top is up. Unfortunately, I have discovered a pinhole on the outside rear of the new top. Must have come from the factory this way. I'll be letting them look at it to see if it can be repaired or if it will need replacing again. BTW - nice chrome grill treatment!!! JP - glad you confirmed my findings. This is my BEST AND CHEAPEST Prowler tip, yet nobody reads and takes awareness of this future potenial problem. When people are out of warranty and the hole appears, they will all bitch and moan about it - I can forsee it coming............. ed monahan	I repeat, my top is not getting caught in the latch. It is nowhere near the latch. It is just off of the glass on the window where it is double or triple thick material.
